Work Experience Work Placements

Work Experience Placements are a fantastic way of getting a feel for what it’s like to be in a particular job that you’re interested in.

SGS College learners undertake work experience placements on all full time courses.

Those placements can vary in duration. Some of them are on-going and could be one day a week for example for the whole academic year. Others could be one day a week for three months!

Get thinking about a Work Placement, where could you go?

Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)

If your Placement requires you to work with children or vulnerable adults, or if you will have access to sensitive information, you will be asked to undertake a DBS. This is when they check if you may have a criminal record.

Learners are encouraged to let us know if they have any unspent convictions, warnings or cautions to the College’s Work Experience Coach, Personal Tutor, Executive Director of Learner Experience or Head of Learner Services, before applying.

The staff member will be able to give you insight on whether or not your application is likely to be successful in light of past events.
